It’s September and guess what time is it? It’s Eurovision time! Sweden has started to accept songs from composers for the upcoming Melodifestivalen 2014. No date has been set as of yet for their final.
Like in 2013, half of the competing entries will be chosen by a selection panel from the received submissions, while the other half will be selected through an invitation process by SVT.
A total of 32 entries will be accepted. 8 in each heat, and 10 in the Finals.
A new rule for the 2014 edition of the competition stipulates that at least 20% of the selected entries are to be written by female composers/lyricists in a full or partial capacity.
We are expecting to receive many entries, a lot of new of material . We would also like to remind the authors that they should submit quality and not on quantity- Mr Christer Bjorkman, Melodifestivalen supervisor
Last year, Robin Stjenberg won Melodifestivalen 2013 and represent Sweden at the 58th annual Eurovision Song Contest, where he placed 14 with a total of 62 points.
